IQ Software began shipping a new query and data access tool that stores views of data as reusable objects. Different views of data can be created by reusing a previous object and applying different parameters. IQ/Objects can access multiple heterogeneous databases across the network.

IQ SOFTWARE CORP. next month will release a data query tool and report writer that will let users assemble reports and integrate data from multiple data sources through reusable objects.

IQ Software will release in October, a Windows-based object-oriented querying and reporting tool that will boast reusable queries and reports, and the ability to simultaneously run and output multiple queries. The version 5.0 "roll-out" includes IQ/SmartServer, a new addition to the IQ product family. IQ/SmartServer is desined to leverage the customers existing investments in client/server infrastructure.

IQ Software Corp. has introduced version five of its Intelligent Query line, with a new three-tiered architecture designed to ease users' management headaches and boost query performance. A new component, SmartServer, routes queries to the appropriate source, thus removing the processing from the client. Mike Foss of Teleport Communications Group, notes, "Users will not have to wait for output."

August 7, 1995 Page 23: PCWEEK - "Query tool gains support for three-tier architecture"
IQ Software has added support for three-teir client/server architecture and application partitioning to Intelligent Query 5.0, the latest version of the company's database query and reporting software. To bolster support for partitioning, IQ added IQ/SmartServer as a common back end for IQ clients that handles database query processing and batch processing. SmartServer also comes with SmartScheduler, for scheduling queries and batch processing.
